Icon Water’s Community Support Program open for applications

Icon Water’s Community Support Program will open today for applications from local organisations seeking support for the 2022/23 financial period. 

Applications will remain open until 30 April 2022, and applicants can apply for sponsorship from one of three categories: 

• Community Sectors 
• Community Inclusion  
• Affiliated Industry

Icon Water General Manager Davina McCormick said, “our Community Support Program allows community organisations to apply for funding for specific projects that support our community”.  
“As a valued partner in the community, we strive to ensure a variety of sectors across the ACT and surrounding regions are supported through this program.”

The program, which has been running for over twenty years, provides approximately $400,000 annually to help grow and support our community. We sponsor many vital support services such as Lifeline Canberra, Canberra sleepbus, Kids in Care ACT and Menslink. Icon Water also provides funding to community sporting clubs, educational and cultural initiatives, local community groups and projects focusing on the environment and sustainability. 

“We understand the past few years have been particularly difficult for many, and the pandemic has seen increasing demand for community support services. We look forward to contributing our support to helping our community through this challenging time.”

While there are no specific limits to the amount of funding an organisation or group can request, Icon Water has specific assessment criteria that must be met.  

“It’s really important the organisations we support not only provide a benefit to the ACT community, but they also must align with Icon Water’s values and must not negatively impact the environment or the community,” said Ms McCormick. 

Icon Water will assess the suitability of each application we receive to ensure they meet these requirements and will then determine which organisations we can support with funding to commence in July 2022.  

“It’s always a tough decision as to who receives funding. Every year we receive many impressive applications, and we aim to maximise the impact and value to our community with the funding we provide,” said Ms McCormick.
