Recreation at Googong Dam and Foreshores
Googong Dam, and its foreshores, offer excellent opportunities for fishing and recreation, but this area also plays a crucial role in our everyday lives.
This dam is the single largest reservoir in the capital region, holding 119.4 gigalitres (or 119,400 million litres) of water. It supplies drinking water to Canberra, Queanbeyan and the Googong Township – so water quality is our highest priority.
There are a few common-sense rules we all need to follow to ensure we can continue enjoying this precious resource for generations to come.
To learn more about these rules, or the foreshore’s opening hours, head to Parks ACT’s Googong Foreshores page.
