Get groovy at Music by the River
Join us at Queen Elizabeth II Park in Queanbeyan on Saturday 1 February for disco like you’ve never heard it before!
Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council and Icon Water proudly present the ninth annual Music by the River with Canberra Symphony Orchestra.
‘This year’s program is packed with music that makes you want to move,’ said Mayor, Cr Kenrick Winchester.
‘We have a very special program dedicated to disco’s greatest hits, featuring vocals from Mig Ayesa and Kirrah Amosa, and conducted by George Ellis - this is a night you won’t want to miss.’
‘There’s a dedicated dance floor and a great selection of food and drink stalls planned, plus plenty of room to set up your picnic blanket and enjoy the atmosphere.’
‘The Canberra Symphony Orchestra is packed with world-class musicians and we are so proud to once again partner with the Council to bring their talents to the banks of the Queanbeyan River,’ said Davina McCormick, Icon Water General Manager of Customer Engagement.
‘Icon Water has been providing water to Queanbeyan for almost 100 years, so we have a long history of partnership that’s worth celebrating,’ Ms McCormick said.
Canberra Symphony Orchestra CEO Rachel Thomas said Music by the River was an exciting opportunity to demonstrate the diversity of the orchestra’s talented musicians.
‘We pride ourselves on collaborations that make live music accessible to everyone, not just fans of traditional classical music,’ Ms Thomas said.
‘We performed ABBA’s greatest hits at last year’s Music by the River and have also got our audiences up and dancing to music from iconic Aussie band Hoodoo Gurus, Kate Ceberano, Neil Diamond and more.’
‘We can’t wait to see everyone at Music by the River on 1 February – it’s always a terrific event for the whole family to enjoy.’
Ticket holders can start their night from 4pm with entertainment from a local DJ with Boom Box 2 U, who will lead into the main event starting from 7pm.
Music by the River is a ticketed event, and you must bring a printed or digital ticket with you on the night.
