Road closures due to water mains upgrades

Published date

Icon Water are upgrading a number of water mains throughout the Braddon precinct as part of our annual renewal program. The program includes excavation of pipes under the road and as a result of this, road closures will be in place to facilitate these works.

From 9am today, Wednesday 24 March 2021, until 5pm Friday 30 April 2021 the following road closures will be in place:

  • The eastern side of Mort Street / Elouera Street roundabout
  • Mort Street (southbound direction between the driveway to 34 Mort Street and the driveway to 40 Mort Street).
  • Elouera Street (both directions): between the driveway to 38 Mort Street and 40 Mort Street.

Pedestrians will be able to move through the area, however sections of the footpath will be closed and signage will provide direction for foot traffic.

Icon Water are working to limit disruptions to businesses in the area and have notified customers of potential impacts to water during this time.

Icon Water would like to thank the community for their patience while these road closures are in place.

The current mains renewal program is part of an ongoing investment program that aims to upgrade aging pipes in the region to maintain water quality and flow, and minimise the risk of water main failures. These works ensure that that Icon Water can continue to deliver the high quality and reliable service Canberrans expect.
