Sustainability Education
We are committed to embedding a sustainable culture within our organisation. This is done through environmental training for all staff and contractors, regular sustainability forums, frequent sustainability articles via internal publications, sustainable procurement and relevant sustainability-related presentations.
It is just as important for us to provide assurance and encourage support of sustainability in the community. We do this in various ways such as providing site tours, publishing information, providing educational displays and school education programs.
Check out the range of educational programs we can offer to promote our sustainability programs:
- School and community group tours of our water and wastewater treatment plants.
- Public campaigns to inform the community about targeted programs (such as the importance of sustainable water use and water quality protection) through local radio, online promotion, advertising and published articles.
- Information and educational displays at events across the ACT, including the Upper Murrumbidgee Catchment Network events. Royal Canberra Show, ACT Business Sustainability Expo, World Environment Day publication releases and Science in ACTion.
- Support for professional development (particularly tertiary education across the region) by providing a perpetual endowment for water sustainability research at the Australian National University.
- Provide engaging online education materials, activities and resources for local teachers. Producing materials tailored to learning requirements in keeping with the Australian curriculum.
- Provide support for Cooma Snowy Monaro Waterwatch program to deliver education about water quality protection to the upper Murrumbidgee catchment with community and regional students.
